Check management, power and mounting

Confirm whether the selected access point uses standalone management, a local controller or a cloud service, and check the software and licence requirements for that model. Verify the regulatory region and supported wireless features against the intended UK deployment. The wireless standard alone does not establish controller compatibility.

Match the power requirement to the supported PoE source or power adapter, checking what the listing supplies. Compare network switches for suitable ports and the required PoE budget. Check mounts, brackets and other networking accessories as separate items where needed.

Specify access points for the installation

Plan coverage, client capacity and the wired uplink around the actual site, rather than assuming an advertised wireless rate will be the rate experienced by every device. Include the model, management platform, quantity and mounting or power requirements in a network hardware enquiry before ordering items whose supplied accessories are unclear.
