Compare both ends of the optical link

Record the exact host or switch port and the supported module specification. Check protocol, link rate, wavelength, fibre type, connector and required reach together. Physically similar modules can have different electrical or optical requirements, and a quoted maximum distance assumes the appropriate link conditions.

Confirm vendor support for the module in the chosen network switch or server network card. Where the link uses complementary transmit and receive wavelengths, verify the required pairing rather than ordering two modules solely because their housings match.

Specify modules, cables and quantities together

Check whether a direct-attach cable or another supported connection method suits the intended ports. Browse networking accessories for separate supporting parts and verify the exact connector arrangement. For replacements, include the current module label and both endpoint models in the enquiry.
