Plan a 10Gb Ethernet upgrade

Compare our 10Gb Ethernet network cards by part number, port type and mounting arrangement. Check the server interface, supplied bracket, switch connection and any transceiver or cable requirements before ordering.

Select the host connection and the network connection

Record the server model, available slot or adapter position, operating system and required connections. Check the exact adapter's driver and firmware support, PCIe or platform-specific interface, port type and supplied bracket. If particular boot, virtualisation or offload features are required, confirm them for that model rather than inferring them from its link speed.

Compare Ethernet adapters by their connection requirements. An optical port also needs a supported module or cable and compatible equipment at the other end; browse transceivers and optics with the chosen adapter's specification to hand.

Specify the network upgrade as a complete order

State the number of ports needed and any redundancy or aggregation plan, checking support in both the operating system and switch configuration. For mixed orders, send the adapter part number, bracket preference, server model and link components through wholesale server components. Several ports do not by themselves guarantee a faster single transfer.
