Buying guide: Fibre Channel Cards
Find Fibre Channel cards for connecting compatible servers to storage-area networks. Compare port count, link speed, interface and bracket specifications.
Match the adapter to your SAN fabric, optics, host drivers and storage support matrix. Fibre Channel and Ethernet are different protocols and are not substitutes.
Hardware supplied by KahnServers includes a 90-day warranty. Check current availability and the individual product specification before ordering.
Match the HBA to the storage fabric
Record the SAN switch, storage system, host operating system and required Fibre Channel rate before selecting an adapter. Check the vendor support matrix for the exact combination of HBA, driver and firmware. A physical port match or a higher advertised link rate alone does not establish a supported storage connection.
Confirm the host slot, supplied bracket, port count and required optical modules. Where replacement optics are needed, compare transceivers and optics using the Fibre Channel protocol and exact port requirements; Ethernet optics should not be assumed to be substitutes.
Prepare the complete SAN requirement
Specify how many host connections are required and confirm any multipath configuration in the relevant system documentation. If the order also changes local storage, compare server storage controllers as a separate component choice. Use wholesale server components for an HBA batch or mixed order, including the full part numbers and target platforms.
