Identify the cooling assembly for the configuration

Record the server model and generation, processor model, installed fan arrangement and the part number on the component being replaced. Check the manufacturer's requirements for the complete configuration, including any higher-power processor, GPU or expansion hardware. A heatsink's mounting fit alone does not establish the required thermal performance.

Check whether the listing is for a fan, heatsink or a larger assembly and which fittings are supplied. Confirm any separate shroud, bracket or other server accessory needed to restore the intended airflow. Follow the platform's installation and maintenance procedure for the selected component.

Plan cooling alongside a processor upgrade
